Respectful boundaries, thankfully, are learned in the Congregation setting — whether in prison or in the Kingdom Hall — in the presence of good association and examples. New, healthy ways of thinking do, fortunately, affect one's actions, even if it does take time and diligent effort. Trust in Jehovah is key. We dare not go back to our own thinking, even if what was inappropriate was consensual.

Is practicing Capoeira wrong/bad/discouraged by Jehovah's Witnesses?
by aikichristian inmy girlfriend used to be an avid capoeira practicioner for over year.
she has reaped many benefits from it: increased physical fitness, flexibility, some self-defense skills, and stress-relief.
she enjoyed it.. unfortunately, an article came out in the spanish version of the "watchtower" ("atalaya" in spanish) essentially saying that capoeira should not be practiced because it has some spirituality stuff in it that was wrong.

Satan does what he can to wreak havoc wherever he can. Instead of people defending God and His creation, they turn to feeling they have to defend themselves. It's a snare, to be sure.

I'm a Liar
by Perry inso, i'm downtown quite early the other morning while still dark and i see a man holding an awake.
so, i pull over and wave him over.
after a few words of cordiality, i ask him why jehovah's witnesses teach that jesus returned invisibly in 1914 when jesus himself said this:in matthew 24:.

to found-my-way:
Jehovah's way through is working much better than trying to convince a "professional counselor" of the values I'm wanting to live by. Since they don't live by these values themselves, their "advice" was irritating, which only adding confusion to the problems I was needing to address.
Finding JWD has helped me with my focus. Using my knowledge to help others has helped myself in the process. I hadn't understood boundaries very well since I was quite reclusive prior to joining JWD. (Even when I was considered an active JW, I did most of my activities as a lone Witness.) Having a "strong need to belong to a group" may well explain why I am actively involved on JWD…. Indeed, I was abused as a child. The physical abuse had unintended sexual side-effects since it continued for 2 years after I became pubescent. (I was hit, often as many as 50 strokes, by my dad's narrow leather belt on my bare behind while I was laid across my bed.)
I am responsible for the choices I've made in life. I accept the consequences of my actions. My hope is in Jehovah and the Kingdom arrangement, not in the training of those opposed to it.

to vitty:
To me, it would be worse being on the outside and not wanting to be in on the inside. I've been through at least 4 JCs, with reproof for varying lengths of time. It's probably safe to say that every congregation I've been associated with has had people at various stages of reproof and reinstatement. I have experienced love especially when my attitude improved to the counsel being applied to me. Even now, in this most serious stage, I see the interest and marvel. I am still the most regular one there, 15 months on. People avoid me less than I did when I tried to interrupt to get some attention. I quietly wait when I need some literature or need to update the appropriate MS/elder on something pertaining to the Congregation. I leave right away once I'm done. If I keep doing the same when I'm "reinstated", I'm sure the friends I need will be easy enough to find. I am making some acquaintances here on JWD and where I play pocket billiards, so I'm not concerned. The Congregation I currently am assigned to has had a number of disfellowshipped ones be successfully reinstated in the 7 years I've attended, so I'm sure it will be no different with me.

to Who are you?:
JWs continue to have 5 Congregation-sponsored meetings at the Kingdom Hall nearby, which I attend religiously. As well, I keep up in reading the literature as it comes in, from cover-to-cover, as I can. Professional counselors are no longer recommended, in my case. I am not to have social conversation with anyone that I know to be currently one of JWs or at any Kingdom Hall.

"Trinitarians" how can you "lie" to the truth? Is truth a person?
by booker-t ini was talking to this jw's elder who i believe has to be the best debater against the "trinity" doctrine that jw's have he brought up several point which i feel needs to be addressed by trinitarians.
first of all he argured that acts 5:3-4 about lying to the holy spirit in no way makes the holy spirit a person any more that "lying to the truth" in james makes "truth" a person.
i have never seen that verse before about lying to the truth.

I'm considered an interested person, I attend all 5 Congregation meeting regularly. I'm not interested with friendship with the world. Understanding by some in it is enough for me. Condemning is what the people bring upon themselves, according to the Scriptures. Mercy is given to those who repent. But conversion and dedication must come, sooner or later, before it's too late. God has His ways, which are higher than our own. When we submit/obey, then we benefit from His guidance. If not, our bad choices will lead to bad results for us, when we're individuals or collective bodies.

update on my divorce situation
by depressed ini'm shocked!
if you remember my experience, in a nutshell, basically my ex-bethelite ex pioneer husband cheated on me with an older "worldly woman" from his job and left me suddenly.
i had no idea that we had trouble with our marriage, however, when i discovered the love letters from the other woman, he moved out, and a week after that, i received divorce papers.
